Mr. R. P. Ritolia, former Advisor (Coal) to Managing Director, Tata Steel Ltd and Former Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Central Coalfields Ltd, Ranchi, India, obtained Mining Engineering degree from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, Post graduation in Mining from Leoben, Austria (under UNO scholarship) and post-graduate diploma in Management from AIMA.
Mr. Ritolia brought Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), an ailing company, to a Mini Ratna status by registering more than Rs 1000 crores profit consecutively for three years. Under his leadership, CCL achieved a distinction of becoming the FIRST Company in Jharkhand to be granted membership of “United Nations Global Compact.”
He has also held the positions of Director - CMPDIL, Director – ECL, and Director - Coal India Limited. As the Chairman of Coal Videsh Ltd, a committee formed to scout & acquire overseas mineral resources, he formulated corporate/strategic vision for the committee and prepared an Interim Report on it which was highly appreciated by Coal India Board. The present venture International Coal Venture Ltd, a consortium of steel, power and mining giants like SAIL, NMDC, CIL, RINL and NTPC, is the outcome of this initiative.
